A scanner is used to assess and optimize sawn and planed wood at full production speed. We offer a solution which is fully integrated both mechanically and in terms of software, and are pleased to design individual customer solutions. A scanning system offers the following benefits:

  • Reduced labour costs
    In conjunction with one, two or even three cross-cut saws, a scanner is able to replace up to nine operators per shift. In three-shift operation, this adds up to an impressive 27 employees per day
  • Increased yield
    The scanner optimizes your cut wood yield compared to manual defect marking systems by means of ultra-precise defect position determination. A 3% improvement can always be achieved.
  • Production monitoring in real time
    The scanning system supplies real time statistics about production relative to shift, operator, supplier etc. both in the office and actually at the machine itself. Keep an eye on your timber suppliers and only pay for what you really get.
  • Increased productivity
    The scanning system is capable of processing extremely high quantities of cut wood (cross-cutting: More than 90,000 metres per shift with one scanner and three cross-cut saws). Use of the scanner permits constant material throughput. Productivity no longer depends on the efficiency of your staff. By using a scanner, it is still possible in some cases to use poor material in production and still retain the same high standard of quality in the end product.
  • Product quality improvement
    Quality does not fluctuate, but remains consistent, ensuring fewer rejects and cutting the incidence of complaints about end products.

The RAPID Series CNC cross-cut systems are designed for continuous heavy-duty operation. With this series PAUL offers profitable solutions for all industrial requirements in the field of high-performance cross-cutting with maximum timber yield.

Unlike other high-speed CNC cross-cut systems, the PAUL RAPID features two saw blades working independently of each other. This feature ensures more reliable waste disposal and thus an appreciable increase in the uptime and efficiency of the system.

  • 3 driven top and bottom feed rollers of 110 mm diameter for a powerful, yet smooth power transmission, even with warped workpieces and high feed speeds
  • Heavy-duty gear drive unit
  • 2 overhead saw blades - one of them exclusively for trailing end cuts ensuring that even random length offcuts at the board end are cut without any interference
  • Optimum waste disposal
  • Extremely robust, basically technically conservative and transparent construction

FEATURES

FLUORESCENT MARKER
The machine employs a fluorescent crayon for marking, incorporated with a photocell sensor for detecting defective parts automatically.

HIGH PERFORMANCE SERVO MOTOR
A high performance AC servo motor drives the in-feed conveyor belt, allowing precise positioning of the workpiece.

TILTED INFEED ROLLER CONVEYOR

Exclusively designed tilted in-feed roller conveyor allows the workpiece to feed automatically against the fence. This eliminates troublesome manual loading of the workpiece.

SORTING FUNCTION

Out-fed products can be sorted into various identical lengths.

  • The total quantities of cut can be set. Once the desired quantity is reached, cutting motion stops automatically.
  • Allows for setting size of cut on head piece.

COMPUTER CONTROLLED
The machine is computer controlled for convenient operation.
  • Various language displays including English, Chinese and other languages.
  • The length of cut can be pre-set as desired.
  • Quantities of cut can be memorised.
  • The computer can take control of the head piece cut settings.
  • Utilises automatic identification and selection for optimum length of cut.

4. AUTOMATIC SELECTION CUTTING MODE

  • Automatically selects the optimum length of cut between marking lines.
  • Memory capacity up to 49 sets. Each set provides 12 sizes of cut.
